| Panel A: You, The Economy and The Future
It’s an inescapable reality, but the economy is hurting — especially in Tennessee. As leaders with a vision for the future of our communities, it is critical that we understand the realities we face now and in the future. Not just the limitations, but also the opportunities before us. This panel will give you the chance to talk with economic experts and get the inside view on our state’s economic picture. |
Panel B: How Green Is Tennessee?
From one end of the state to the other, all you have to do is walk outside to see that Tennessee is a unique natural location. But when it comes to business, civic action and community involvement, just how “green” are we? This panel will give you the chance to talk with experts and community leaders who will share their insight on the ways that each of us, no matter our field, can work to make Tennessee greener. - Dr. Randy Gentry, Director, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Institute for a Secure and Sustainable Environment - Laurel Creech, Director, Team Green - Brad McAllister, Chattanooga Green, City of Chattanooga |

No issue is more relevant or more hotly debated than education in Tennessee. While the last few years have shown big strides in graduation rates, we still have a long way to go. This panel will strip away the rhetoric and give GenTNers the chance to talk with people on the front lines of improving education in Tennessee about where we stand, what’s working, and how emerging community leaders can make a difference. - Brenda Ables, Tennessee Department of Education - Brad Leon, Executive Director, Teach for America Tennessee |
Panel D: Beyond the City Walls
While we celebrate the vibrant life of Tennessee’s larger cities, smaller and rural communities play a major role in our state: politically, economically and culturally. This panel gives attendees from all parts of the state the opportunity to engage in dialog with experts and each other about how to ensure that smaller and rural communities continue to improve, while getting big-picture insight into economic development statewide. - State Rep. Henry D. Fincher, Cookeville - George Halford, Cookeville/Putnam County Chamber of Commerce - State Rep. Mark L. Maddox, Dresden |
